11 Jun The Patience in Love – 6/11/20
Ephesians 4:2 – “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
There is a difference between being humbled and being humiliated, though they often feel the same. One is for the purpose of pruning off the dead parts of ourselves and the other is shame that drives us into hiding.
Humility, gentleness, and patience are character qualities that spurs into actions. Be those things and you will be described and marked by those things. Seek those things and those things (which are part of the kingdom of God and his righteousness, Matt 6:33) will be given to you.
Bear with one another in love. Bear, carry, support. In love, we carry the lament, injustice, hurt, and weight. We look to Jesus, who cried out and interceded in grief for the His people. Love is an action best done by humility and gentleness. It will cost you something. It will cost you your life. That is what taking up your cross looks like. Do that. Today. Right now.
