The Path of Life – 4/26/20

Austin Erickson

Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death

Proverbs 14:27 – “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death

When I worked in consulting, I had one assignment focused on business process reengineering. An aspect of that assignment I, unfortunately, grew far too familiar with was mapping out process flows for a (boring) business interaction. When doing this work, it’s important to have an equal understanding of the consequences for when a process operates as it should, or if something goes wrong, known as the happy/sad paths. When reading Proverbs 14, the “happy” & “sad” paths are alarmingly clear. The happy path is the life of the Christ-follower – one who abides in the presence of God, valuing wisdom in the Word over the things of this world – these things are promised to result in a life of abundance for both this life and all of eternity. The sad path should serve as a sobering reminder – a life apart from God never ends well. We as flesh are ill-equipped to handle the heavy currents of this world and it will ultimately drown us, both in this life and all of eternity.

Prayer Point

Pray that we as a Church be diligent in the Word, valuing the truth &  presence of God over the lies this world so commonly offers, so that we may walk on that “happy” path with the Lord for all of eternity.
