The Law of Christ – 6/24/20

Jessica Sanchez

Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Doing things alone isn’t easy. We weren’t created to be alone. Jesus died so that we could be in relationship with Him. We were meant to be in relationship with God and his people as we encounter Jesus every day. This doesn’t only include rejoicing when they rejoice but weeping when they weep.

When we choose to bear each other’s burdens, we are choosing to empathize with one another, but also hold each other accountable in living life the way of Jesus. When Paul was writing to the church of Galatia, he wanted the people to understand that choosing to love Jesus also requires the responsibility of loving and caring for His people.

Jesus’s greatest commandment was to love one another and by doing so we will fulfill His law (Matt. 22:36-40). In Galatians 6:1, Paul encourages the church to restore one another in a spirit of gentleness. By redirecting and pointing each other back to Jesus, we are loving each other because His love is greater than any temptation or sin that we give into.

Maybe you are the one who is struggling with the weight of sin today. Maybe your heart is heavy or feeling convicted. Not only has the Lord already carried our burdens for us, He has given us a community to immerse ourselves in where we can be unified by fulfilling his greatest commandment: to love one another.

Prayer Points

  • Pray for boldness in the body of Christ to approach one another in love and gentleness when we have sinned.
  • Pray that we would fulfill the law of Jesus Christ by loving one another because he first loved us.
  • Pray that we would remember that we are not alone in our walk, but that Jesus has given us His body and His spirit to help us through our day to day lives.
