The Joy of His Presence – 3/18/20

Taylor Antone

Psalm 46:4 – There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most high.

In the ancient worldrivers were a critical part of sustaining a city’s economy. Rivers provided avenues for resources, trade, and various materials that contributed to the well-being of a city, and signified strength and stability to its surrounding nations. On the other hand, the city of God (Jerusalem) did not possess a river. RatherGod’s presence acted as Jerusalem’s river by being its source of spiritual provision and protection. God’s presence gladdens the hearts of those who reside in Him He supernaturally supplies His people with the “holy habitation” of His presence. And this is true for me and you today!

If you’re anything like me (extraverted), the thought of limiting social interactions, community gatherings, and public events are less than exciting. However, we have a unique opportunity  to tap into the presence of God. I encourage you to take this time to seek the Lord privatelyand with your family. Seek Him until God’s presence has made you glad. Everyone is in a rush to grab supplies and resources from storesbut whave a never-ending supply in the holy habitation of the Most High, whose streams make glad the city of God.  Peace, hope, faith, and patience have already been purchased for you through the blood of Christ, and the power of His resurrection.

Prayer Points

  1. Pray that your own hearts would find God’s presence as your main source of satisfaction and gladness.
  2. Pray that God’s presence would strengthen our servant leaders, and comfort the rest of our church to trust in His sovereignty.
  3. Pray that God’s presence would fill our city, and touch the lives of our nation’s first responders and those affected by this virus.
