23 Jun The Hospitality of Jesus – 6/23/20
1 Peter 4:9 – “show hospitality to one another without grumbling.”
Have you ever been to someone’s home that seemed to be the ultimate host? Maybe they offered coffee, cookies, popcorn… maybe they even asked you to stay for dinner and said, “use whatever you need around the house.“ I’m sure we can all remember a time when we felt so invited and welcomed. This is how Jesus intends for us to feel all the time. Even more, he intends us to make others feel this way as we love the body of Christ.
1 Peter 4:9 says, “show hospitality to one another without grumbling.” The command here is to “show hospitality to one another” out of our desire to look like Jesus. The picture described earlier of opening up your home to guests is the way Jesus opens His arms to us every single day. We have the keys to the kingdom, and we are called to use the talents, resources, and gifts we have received to invite others into this kind of love as well.
