The Good Path – 5/2/20

Lindsay Skolrood

Proverbs 20:24 – “A man’s steps are from the Lord; how then can man understand his way?”

A few years ago, I went hiking on a short trail.  It was less than a mile to a gorgeous view of the Appalachian Mountains. I decided to go off the path and make my own trail on the way down because I wanted to walk a little more.  To my surprise, I got lost, and I ended up hiking for five hours in a thunderstorm to try to find a path that could get me back to civilization.  Unbeknownst to me, I had walked to a whole new county.  I hadn’t eaten; I was lost and utterly distraught.  My decision to step off the path just a little bit led me to one of the scariest hikes of my life.

Maybe like my hike, during this time, we may feel lost and confused, and on an uncertain path.  Sometimes we see the fruit of our labor and grasp a glimpse of the purpose in the struggle or circumstance.

How reassuring is it that this path that we are on right now is from Him?  God is in control of life and death.  He is in control and shows up, even when we mess up.  His power and plans go far beyond our own understanding.

Prayer Point

Lord, I praise you that you are sovereign.  I pray that we gladly and humbly submit to your authority and trust the path you have us on.  I pray that lives would be changed, and you provide more opportunities to share your gospel during the current situation that I am in.
