10 Aug Strength in Grace – 8/10/20
2 Timothy 2:1 – “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus,”
God has not given us what we deserve for our sins – namely, eternal separation from Him. Instead, we find in His son the gift of salvation. This assurance of grace is the believer’s source of strength in all circumstances – especially when encountering suffering. As a result of walking with Christ, the believer is granted suffering for the sake of the gospel (see v. 1:8; 1:11-12 & Phil. 1:29). In acknowledging the grace and promises we have been given in Christ Jesus, we can endure suffering for his sake (see Heb. 12:2; Phil. 4:11-13). We are fortunate to be on His side!
- If you are enduring suffering in this season, I pray that you find strength in the grace of the Lord, granting you salvation and assuring you, ultimately, an eternal victory in Him (see Rom. 8:31-32).
Father, thank you that we can find strength in your promises to live lives according to your purpose. Help us to place our hope in you and in every circumstance. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen
