God is With You – 12/22/20

Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

In this midst of a year like 2020, we have often found frustration and helplessness in these circumstances that surrounds us. We feel the waves caving in, we are immersed in deep waters, and overwhelmed with the fires consuming us. But God is with you. God delivers and brings assurance to His people.

God is with you through the toughest circumstances. When you pass through the water, when the waves are crashing, when you feel so entangled in the hardships that are coming at you, God will be with you. This imagery in Isaiah 43:2, recalls to mind His guidance of the Israelites through the Red Sea. God delivering the Israelites out of Egypt is a reminder of what God has done and how He has redeemed His people. It is in God’s character to be with his people, and time and time again, His scripture reminds us of this truth. Whatever season you are in, God is with you. We can call on Him as Abba our Father, the God who formed and redeemed us (v.1).

By the redemption of Jesus Christ and the grace of the gospel, we also have assurance. God is with you through your affliction. In His presence, there is fullness of joy (Ps. 16:11) and He covers us with his feathers, and under his wings we will find refuge (Ps. 91:4)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you are with us always. In the midst of our trials and circumstances, you comfort us and call us beloved. Through hardships, you are always faithful. Lord, we rejoice in knowing that you are a God who redeems His people through the blood of Jesus Christ.
