Spirit of Power – 7/31/20

2 Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power...

As Dwight Edwards states, “A Christlike life is one that puzzles, attracts, disrupts, enrages, comforts, rebukes, and radically loves those around it.” But that does not happen without the power of God within us. We simply aren’t that good to do it on our own. We are just helpless sinners in need of God’s transforming grace and power to do His will and make His name known throughout the world.

Anything God asks of us, he Himself fully intends to do through us. He doesn’t point us in the right direction and take a seat on the sideline waiting to watch us fail or succeed. He has graciously given us His spirit of power for any and every circumstance.

Lord, thank you for the spirit of power that you have placed within us. This power that can never be diminished or removed. Let us be a church who boldly shares the gospel and a church where the gospel’s attractiveness is made visible as we go into the world with your power rooted in us. Amen.
