08 May Speak to please Him – 5/8/20
James Thomas
Proverbs 26: 18-19 – “Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I am only joking!“
Words are very powerful. I love joking around and having fun with people. In school, I loved being the class clown. I thrived on getting attention from others, but it has caused me to ruin relationships and form insecurities about myself. Thoughts like “What if I do not get accepted by others?” and “Am I good enough?” clouded my judgement. This verse gives me a reminder that everything I say should not be at the expense of others even if that means “acceptance” from my peers because ultimately, we are ambassadors of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20).
Prayer Point
Father help me control everything that comes out of my mouth so that I honor and glorify you. May I aim to always please you than desire for acceptance by this World.
