30 Jun Serve Others – 6/30/20
John 13:14 – “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”
Think about how we would have all responded to Judas knowing what Jesus knew. Jesus shows us the heart of true service, which acts in love even for one’s enemies, which Jesus ultimately showed by dying on a cross for sinners like you and me. Let’s prioritize serving others, and “consider the needs of others more significant than your own” as Paul says in Philippians. Let’s do this especially to those who don’t deserve it.
I heard it said once that God’s metrics are different; His standards for success or love are different than the world’s. This is good news for us! We make it our aim to please the Lord. We see here that it pleases the Lord to humble ourselves and act in love and service to others. This is God’s work; this is success as a believer.
Pray that our church would follow Jesus’ example to serve, and that He’d be our sustenance.
