Rich Made Poor – 2/25/21

Stephen Jacobson

2 Corinthians 8:8-9 – “I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.”

Jesus relates to us, our earthly problems, and enriches our souls when we go to Him for our source of life. This is demonstrated in 2 Corinthians 8:9 which writes, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich”. I have found it encouraging to know that Jesus descended from heaven, to earth, so that he could take on human form. The incarnate Word of God, in understanding our human wants and needs, makes Him most relatable. This is why I feel confident that Jesus truly understands the struggles that I experience, and that I can trust He is leading me to a more enriching life with Him. Jesus truly wants us to live an exciting and vibrant life serving him!

Prayer:
God, thank you for descending to earth, and dying for us! We do not deserve it, but you did it anyway, out of your love for us. Please help us to turn to you in times that we find stressful, hard, and busy. Help us to be sustained through you! Amen.
