Hebrews 10:24 – “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works”
It can be easy to become distracted by all of the shiny things in this life or to become discouraged by all of the painful things in life. We then find ourselves either pursuing or retreating to what is comfortable for us, which leads to a self-centered life. The author of Hebrews knows this, so he challenges us to “stir up one another to love and good works” or in other words to motivate each other to live out our faith via our actions. You and I have a God-given responsibility to not just serve and love, but to motivate, encourage, and challenge other believers to do the same. Life is messy, and we need each other to maintain clarity and focus on Christ.
Dear Heavenly Father, we pray that you would open our eyes to those around us that need to be motivated, encouraged, and challenged to put their faith into action. We pray that we would also be prompted by other believers to put our faith into action and that our hearts would be humble and receptive to that prompting.
