16 Apr Live a Life that Counts – 4/16/20
Proverbs 4:4 – “Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live”
Upon reading the word “live” I can’t help but think about our physical survival, perhaps our own personal protection from getting COVID-19 or passing it on during this pandemic. However, we are reminded through these verses to be in HIS Word and keep His Commandments. Take a step back from focusing on our current needs (e.g. where and when I may be able to get groceries or perhaps your next paycheck) and focus on eternal life and those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus yet – list them and pray for them by name.
As we also reflect on the last Easter service, which convicts us of where our “elsewhere” is (Psalm 84:10), let’s take the time to repurpose our elsewhere. Proverbs 4:14-15 says, “Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil. Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.” May we be a church who focuses on being with Him every day so we can live a life that counts growing in His word and being bold with our closest friends and family to share the gift of eternal life.
- Pray that we can use our time to be in His Word more so that we can grow in wisdom and insight, acting with boldness to expand His kingdom and glory even during social distancing.
- Pray that our church will continue to grow stronger in His word and be protected against all evil.
- Pray for our government and city leaders to have wisdom to make decisions and provide guidance for the greater good. Pray that many people may know Jesus during this pandemic.
