14 Dec Hear Me God – 12/14/20
Psalm 102:1-2 – “Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry come to you! Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress! Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call!”
Our God, someone who is worth fearing, yet so inviting and warm, is our comfort in times of struggle. We know that our God loves those who draw near to Him; giving us permission to be broken, sad, and confused! We have the Lord, who promises us abundant joy if we remain in Him (John 15:5).
How great is it that we have one friend who is always available to listen; always willing to take our burdens; always present to protect us?
Crying out to the Lord is good. It is a way we seek Him. “Set your eyes on the Lord and all you will be able to see is true good, you will be fulfilled” (Col. 3:2-4). In our world, “good” is a word that seems to be interpreted in many ways, when referring to a situation or something physical. I believe that anything good comes from God; and anything that doesn’t come from him, but we may think is good, is a mere facade. It is important for me to believe this truth. Then, perhaps, all of the “not-good” in my life can be recognized as good, and necessary to prepare my heart to receive more good!
Father God, we want you, and we need you. Help us draw near to you. Hear us in our anguish and pain; hear us when nobody else will. Hear us when we hurt; hear us when we miss you; hear us when we have lost something. Hear us when we feel like we are not enough. Hear us when we just want a friend to talk to. You are good God. Father God, please hear us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
