God Foreknew – 11/3/20

Noah Baker

Romans 8:28-30 – “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.”

When my heart gasps for relief in the midst of suffering, I pray you remind me that I have been called to purpose. All things you work for the good of those who love you, Father. “For those God foreknew…” Lord, my answer to anguish lives in a simple word: foreknew. You loved me before my sin. You loved me before my circumstances. You loved me before my grief. You did so to be conformed to the image of your Son. How are you conforming me? Reveal who you are in a season of unrest. Before your hand, I seek your face. Reveal how I can be of use to your glorification in a season of despair. I praise you for calling me. I praise you for justifying me. I praise you for glorifying me, assured that all things you work for the good of those who love you. It is you alone I desire to glorify.

My God,

Place the souls of the weary at ease. Flood our hearts with peace.

Allow us to connect our minds and hearts of your sacrifice, your love, before our suffering.

Guide us to look beyond our circumstances. Reveal to us Lord, how to glorify you in response to anguish.

Meet us in our hurt, meet us in our anxiety, and meet us in our loneliness. Teach us to praise through our discouragement. Teach us to live by faith.
