30 Apr Freedom & Love – 4/30/21

Galatians 5:13 – “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as opportunity for your flesh, but through love serve one another.“
Freedom comes at a cost, typically at someone else’s expense. Let us look at Christ. He came to redeem us. He literally purchased us with his blood and our debt was paid in full. This is how our freedom was gained, nothing to do with us – just Jesus. Jesus had all freedom, but he didn’t use it to do as He pleased, but He served people. Let us not forget how He washed His disciples’ feet (John 13:5) and told us to love our neighbor (Matthew 22:39). We are to love and serve one another in the same way that Christ loves us and gave Himself for us. We don’t have a “sin freely” card as followers of Christ. We have been given God’s sufficient grace to stand firm in these trying times, and resist the world’s temptations. We are to live as Christ lived, in holiness and righteousness all the days of our life.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the grace, love and mercy that you show me every day. I am so undeserving of it all, so I thank you for always loving me and forgiving me when I hit a curb on the road. I pray, Lord, that I can live in a way that rightly promotes your Name – the Name above all names. Please Lord, continue to work through me to serve and love one others. In Jesus Name, Amen!
