Fellowship with Him – 9/10/20

Greg Eissens

1 John 1:6 – “If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.”

1 John 1:6 clearly exposes the contradictory lives many Christians live today. Some of us only open up our Bibles when times get hard and when all hope is lost. The reality is, we

should long to be in constant communion with Jesus. We should never have to “pick back up” the relationship He freely offers and have to reconnect with His spirit so we can experience the true-life change that comes from being transformed in His presence.

Fellowship with someone comes from being in their presence, getting to know their heart, and doing life together. Fellowship with Jesus should look no different. If we are fully immersed in the word of God, we shouldn’t be able to sit in darkness and adjust to that lifestyle. Christians can’t live on the edge with one foot in the kingdom and one foot in the world. This is why this scripture warns us that we cannot live under any truth but God’s truth. Walking in darkness is walking apart from God.

Jesus, I pray that you would expose darkness in our lives and give us strength and help us surrender to hand those areas over to you. Take full control and join our hearts to yours. Give us a yearning to be in your presence and walk in the light of your truth.
