24 Apr Do you love Discipline? – 4/24/20
Proverbs 12:1 – “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid”
Do I LOVE discipline? This means more than just tolerating it. To LOVE discipline means to embrace it wholeheartedly.
Discipline is part of being a disciple—like a student with a beloved teacher, learning a skill. The student who loves the teacher and wants to acquire the teacher’s skills brings his work to the teacher again and again to ask, “Is this what you want from me?”
My heart towards discipline is actually a gauge of how much I trust Him. The only way to LOVE God’s discipline is to trust Him. His goal is to lead and correct me to look more like Himself daily.
Pray that your trust in God would grow as you embrace—even seek out—His loving discipline. Like David, ask “Search me, God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting….” (Psalm 139:23-24)
